Meet Mariam, Program Coordinator at Reel Works

Mariam’s journey as Program Coordinator began in February 2023. She started through CUNY’s Internship to Employment program and joined the team full time in September 2023. Mariam brings an abundance of passion and care to this role. She supports after-school students, guiding them through their journey at Reel Works. Her commitment to fostering spaces and opportunities for young creatives to thrive enriches the experience of all of us at Reel Works.

Mariam graduated from The College of Staten Island with a BA in History and minors in Italian and Studio Art. As a first-generation college student and Bronx native, Mariam is dedicated to cultivating accessible and inclusive spaces for students.

Before joining Reel Works as Program Coordinator, Mariam was a Youth Education intern at BRIC and an English & History tutor for College of Staten Island’s SEEK Program Learning Center.

From organizing 48-Hour Filmmaking Challenges to supporting the Youth Ambassadors’ initiatives and events, Mariam is at the forefront of increasing student engagement at Reel Works.

Mariam is a multidisciplinary artist. She enjoys binge-watching shows, playing the Sims, and writing songs during her free time.
