Reel Impact is a free comprehensive outreach, distribution and community engagement program where teen filmmakers learn how to bring their stories to new audiences through the web, broadcasts, film festivals and community screenings.
Reel Impact participants learn how to use their films to reach new audiences and effect social change. The program objectives are two-fold: 1) To create and train a core group of youth for community screenings and workshops; 2) To maintain and engage the Reel Works family of students and alumni by hosting weekly professional development workshops, guest speakers/ professionals, field trips and collaborations on community action projects.
Reel Impact is open to high school students who are graduates of The Lab, The Summer Lab or similarly rigorous filmmaking programs in schools or other-after school programs. Applicants may be asked to provide samples of their work.
Reel Impact meets Wednesdays, 4pm-6pm, at Reel Works. Outreach and screenings take place between classes.
