At Reel Works, we welcome professional filmmakers to volunteer as mentors for NYC teens as they write, plan, film and edit short documentary films about their lives and communities.

REEL WORKS TEEN FILMMAKING IS SEEKING TALENTED, EXPERIENCED AND COMMITTED FILMMAKERS WHO ARE :

  • Armed with at least two years of documentary filmmaking experience.  Technical skills such as Final Cut Pro editing are not required, but are helpful.
  • Dedicated to guiding the artistic, academic, and professional aspirations of young people.
  • Willing to work collectively with Reel Works and to recognize the importance of a supportive community in creative expression.
  • Able to commit to weekly one-to-one mentoring sessions, bi-monthly group workshops and special events.
