Apply for a Workshop
The Narrative Lab
The Narrative Lab is an advanced workshop open to accomplished filmmakers (Graduates of The Lab or other similar program) who have distinguished themselves artistically and want to continue to learn and grow as artists.
The Narrative Lab is a series of 3-4 week long workshops that lead up to the production of short narrative films, written, directed, produced, and edited by YOU. These workshops that will equip students with advanced skills in producing, editing, cinematography, and sound. Upon successful completion of the workshop, students will be eligible to apply for paid freelance positions with Reel Works Productions.
The production phase of the program begins in Spring 2018. Students will once again be matched with mentors, a youth producer, and a staff member who will support them as they film, edit and produce an original narrative film.
The Narrative Lab is open to high school students who are graduates of The Lab, The Summer Lab or similarly intensive filmmaking programs in schools or other after-school programs. Applicants who have not graduated from a Reel Works program may be asked to provide samples of their work and letters of recommendation.
All applicants must complete the online application and prepare a treatment and professional pitch for the day of the interview.
The Narrative Lab begins October 26th and meets Wednesdays and Thursday, from 430pm – 630pm at Reel Works. Students are expected to meet with their mentors for an additional hour per week and work on their film projects between classes.
