Reel Futures Media Internships

Reel Works trains a diverse workforce for NYC’s $8.7 billion film & television industry – from talented writers, directors and animators to producers, editors and craftspeople.  In fact, 43% of all working Reel Works grads make their careers in entertainment at companies like CNN, CBS, HBO, Viacom, NBC and Sundance Productions.

For young people eager for careers in media, their first step is often though Reel Futures Media Internships.

 Reel Futures Media Internships

Reel Works partners with Futures and Options, a nonprofit focused on career development and internships for underserved youth, to provide real world paid internships in leading NYC film and media companies for 15 teens  in fall, winter and summer placements.  Additionally, Reel Works directly places an additional 15 young adults in advanced placement internships citywide.

The interns’ salaries will be generously covered by funding from the Charles Hayden Foundation, The Pinkerton Foundation, and our Corporate Media Council partners –  so no financial contribution is required of the hosting sites.

Futures and Options and Reel Works support the interns before, during and after the internship, through applicant review and screening, work readiness orientations, career development and exploration workshops, and ongoing professional coaching and development year-round.
