The Lab Master Class is a year-long advanced workshop open to graduates of The Lab who have distinguished themselves artistically and want to continue to learn and grow as filmmakers. As in The Lab, each teen is matched with a filmmaker-mentor and a core curriculum is supplemented by professional workshops in screenwriting, documentary filmmaking, camera and lighting, sound recording, editing and scoring finished films.
All graduates of The Lab in good standing may apply to the Master Class. Students are expected to have a clear, compelling and thought-out film idea, which can be either documentary or narrative fiction. Student performance in The Lab is also considered, including the quality of your film, homework assignments, attendance and relationship with your mentor. Participation in Reel Impact is strongly advised. Most importantly, you need to be willing, once again, to engage in the complex and challenging work of creating an original short film and see it through to completion.

If you are accepted, you can continue with your current mentor (if he/she agrees) or be matched with a new professional filmmaker.
We will accept only 15 students in the 2006-2007 school year. Applicants are strongly advised to meet with John or Stephanie before submitting your application. We are willing to review and advise you on your application prior to submission.
